Even with Valentine's Day brightening the month, February can get a bit dreary. Cabin fever sets in, the cold starts seeping into your bones a little more... fear not! FableVision has helped pull together a couple amazing events. Grab your winter boots, parka, and mittens, and head over to our studio... we'll keep a seat warm for you. Children's Media Association Boston event: Imagination Illustrated Thursday, Feb. 20, 6– 8 p.m. at FableVision Studios (308 Congress St. 6th Floor, Boston)

The leading industry organization, Children’s Media Association, is planting its second branch in Boston with its continued mission to educate, innovate, and inspire the members of the children’s media community.

Moderated by CloudKid’s Dave Schlafman, the panel will feature some of the most highly sought after book talent around the Boston area. From the painterly, feminine style of Julia Denos, to the wide-spanning work of picture book and graphic novel illustrator Jarrett Krosoczka, to the whimsical, colorful scenes that come from Renee Kurilla's warmly inviting mind (and FableVision Lead Artist!), to the poppy, streamlined appeal of Jef Czekaj’s art, our panelists’ work is as diverse as it is talent-filled. We’ll talk about the personal, the professional, and even a little bit of the nonsensical!

Please join us for the very first official event of CMA Boston, free to members and non-members alike. Registration is open, get your name on the list here.

MIT Game Circle event Cash Chow and Corpses: The Deadly Fun Business of Educational Gaming Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. at FableVision Studios

The evening will serve as part reality-check and industry check-up – and part brainstorming summit on how to position New England (with Cambridge/Boston as innovation hubs) as a leader in what promises to be a rewarding sector when it fully matures.

We don’t expect to fully update the gaming and learning success blueprint in one night, but if we work together, we’ll have better framework of the challenges, opportunities, and strategies for growth – along with tips, insights and recommendations on next steps we can all pursue in 2014 to make this the best year yet in educational gaming.

Speakers include: Paul Reynolds, Co-Founder, CEO, FableVision (moderator) Kellian Adams, Mastermind, Green Door Labs Jerry Bird, President, Mass Ventures Scot Osterweil, Creative Director, MIT Education Arcade George Newman, CEO, One Planet Education Network
