Galaxia

Client: National Health Promotion Associates (NHPA)

A missing professor, illegal substances, an online bully, and an evil plot that could put the entire school in jeopardy—these are the challenges players are met with in the unique gamespace of Galaxia. The supplemental game-based approach to National Health Promotion Associates’ Botvin LifeSkills Training prevention education curriculum is designed as a set of interactive modules for sixth to eighth graders.

Galaxia takes place in a boarding school in outer space. FableVision’s artists designed a colorful, fun, and fantastical world for the game, complete with futuristic laboratories, hybrid animals, and floating cafes. As students move through the modules, the choices they make impact the trajectory of the story and they accumulate points based on their responses to situations involving peer pressure, bullying, anger management and more. Their success depends on their application of the principles outlined in the curriculum.

In order to bring aspects of NHPA’s technical materials to current industry standards, FableVision also created customizable parent/caregiver e-modules as well as a user-friendly database for analyzing student progress. Through Galaxia, students can interact with a fun and memorable story while solidifying their comprehension of the LifeSkills curriculum.
