Augustus the Strong

Client: Peabody Essex Museum

FableVision Studios collaborated with the Peabody Essex Museum (PEM) to create “Augustus the Strong,” a short animation created for the PEM’s new 40,000 square foot expansion. The new Asian Export Art Gallery exhibit will showcase over 200 Asian works of art, including translucent Chinese porcelain, fine Indian textiles, glittering Japanese lacquer, and many more amazing artifacts. This eye-catching animation brings wider visibility to the topic, and shows the intertwined histories of Europe and Asia. The story features Augustus the Strong, King in Poland and Elector of Saxony—a man with a large appetite for riches and power. The FableVision animation team wanted it to have a vintage feel, to complement the porcelain in the exhibit itself—timeless and elegant. For historical accuracy, FableVision collaborated with content experts from Peabody Essex Museum, and conducted its own outside research.
