Fab@School Maker Studio

Client: FableVision Learning and Reynolds Center for Teaching, Learning, and Creativity

Fab@School Maker Studio is an easy-to-use web-based 3D printing/digital fabrication platform, which lets students in grades 3-8 experience STEM learning in a more engaging, personally-meaningful way.

The web-based software provides an accessible, low-cost way to imagine, design, invent and fabricate 2D designs, pop-ups, and 3D projects like geometric constructions and working machines. Fab@School Maker Studio features a leveled approach to scaffold teachers and students as they progress from simple to complex projects and from 2D to 3D fabrication.

Fab@School Maker Studio is a research-based tool, developed in collaboration with the University of Virginia and The Reynolds Center for Teaching, Learning, and Creativity as part of the Fab@School Consortium, which also includes the Smithsonian, Princeton, Hofstra, and SITE. The Fab@School initiative is funded with generous support from the Cisco Foundation, US DOE, NSF, MacArthur Foundation, Noyce Foundation, and the Motorola Foundation.
